Partner target
Kujawsko-Pomorskie is an expansive and open region with real perspective of development in a friendly and attractive environment, carrying on broad and active international policy cooperating with regions from many different countries throughout Europe and beyond.
We support any initiative that may contribute to our region's development. Because of that, joining the RECOMMEND project, will enable us to explore other regions' good practices in the scope of eco-management and eco-innovations' implementation and financing. We hope that the new knowledge and experience will provoke further development of the region in the field of economic and environmental matters.
Main Activities
The region is responsible for developing strategic programming documents (eg. Regional Innovation Strategy, Regional Development Strategy) and monitors their implementation. It constituted the Regional Innovation Board, advisory body, embracing representatives from administration, science and business. Kujawsko-Pomorskie is also the Managing Authority of the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) for the years 2007-2013 and the Intermediate Body of the Operational Programme Human Capital (OPHC).
Partner input
Kujawsko-Pomorskie offers an experience in public and European funds management at the regional level as well as in policy papers preparation (programmes, strategies, action plans). Since Kujawsko-Pomorskie has become a beneficiary of the INTERREG IVC capitalization projects, the regional authority is ready to share its experience in the implementation of concrete actions, eg. innovation vouchers or pre-commercial public procurement.
Expected output
Kujawsko-Pomorskie needs modern tools and methods for creating innovation systems and seeks good practices concerning transfer of modern and sustainable technologies. There is a necessity to activate the role of SME as eco-leaders in the region and encourage them to foster cooperation with science. Therefore a deeper investigation is needed in order to identify instruments for promoting the introduction and implementation of eco-management systems in the regional economies. There are still financing resources in the ROP and OPHC available in order to develop environmentally friendly schemes as well as increase institutional capacity.

The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union's
Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and
good practice in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk
prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of
knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.
